The intelligent water filter

Coffee consists of 98 percent water. Its perfect quality is therefore essential for a perfect coffee result. With CLARIS Smart, JURA is revolutionising water filtration. For the first time ever, a fully automatic machine* communicates permanently with the filter thanks to modern RFID technology (RFID = Radio-frequency Identification). It recognises whether a filter is inserted and automatically activates the appropriate mode. It continuously collects information on filter usage and reports when the capacity is exhausted. This not only makes filter changes easier than ever, but also allows CLARIS Smart to develop its full effectiveness.

Pure water for delicious coffee
CLARIS Smart works on the professional up-current principle and always filters exactly the amount of water that is needed for the preparation. In this way, the filter is used efficiently. There is never standing, pre-filtered water, which could quickly become contaminated, left in the water tank. In addition to lime, heavy metals as well as odour and taste impairing substances such as chlorine are also filtered out. The minerals important for health are retained in the water. Result: pure water for perfect coffee specialities and at the same time optimum protection of the fully automatic machine against limescale.

Automatic filter recognition
JURA uses modern RFID technology to enable a dialogue between filter and fully automatic machine. Each machine is automatically recognised by the intelligent water system  (I.W.S.®) when a filter is inserted, automatically switches to filter operation and starts the rinse cycle. When the filter capacity is approaching its end, the fully automatic unit indicates that the filter needs to be changed. If this is not done, the unit activates the descaling mode. After appropriate use, the prompt for descaling appears. This can only be done when the filter is removed. Manipulation errors resulting from misunderstandings are definitely a thing of the past.
